A COBOL programmer, tired of the bug chaos in the legacy codebase, decides to have themselves cryogenically frozen to skip the whole mess. Years later, they're thawed out.

"Did I sleep through?" they ask.

"It's the year 9999," the scientists replied, "And we need you to fix some legacy code from 2000, which is still in production ."

hstone32,

@nixCraft people should have seen the red flags when the name of the language contained the words "business oriented." As if the the language's use-case wouldn't immediately become antiquated in an industry full of fresh, gullible MBAs looking for the next big """"""disruptive"""""" strategy. I imagine adoption rate was high, because you can sell them just about anything you can slap the word "business" on to.

@nixCraft
I was a COBOL programmer in the 90s. Oddly enough I can't seem to find a job today as a COBOL programmer.
