@verge His platform is literally destroying the very concept of free and easily accessible information, centralizing it into servers (lets call them communities) with invite links that eventually die, communities that eventually lose activity, and communities held together by people who could decide to pull the plug any minute. You cannot archive a Discord server as easily as you can a website. People need to stop using Discord as a place to release utilities, as a place to make announcements, and as a place for support. Why? Because eventually, the only thing we're going to be able to do is "Imagine a Place".

We do NOT need a "smaller and more private internet" in some cases. Maybe with your friend groups, but not as an alternative for forums & boards. More importantly, Discord in and of itself is the least private messaging service to date.
