I waited two weeks past the schedule to get a partial fill, 20% of my month's supply, and was told to come back as soon as I ran low. Well, I did and they don't have any more for me.
I called the pharmacy and they say, "maybe tomorrow or the day after." Okay. I mean, sure. I'm getting pretty close to phoning up all my diabetic friends to see if they can spare a vial. I bet nobody can.
It's so weird that 2 big insulin makers, Novo Nordisk and Lilly, would both have shortages of various insulin products at precisely the same time, right?
I'm ready to go all out conspiracy nut over this. Maybe someone in the shadow government that really runs the world economy has decided diabetics are bad for business and they'd rather just kill us all off.
Reading an article on CNN dot com and I notice, in between the lines, there are remarks about the "feasibility" of continuing to supply drugs which have lower prices but complicated manufacture processes while new Type 2 drugs (ozempic, zepbound) are a goldmine.
This does sort of nod to my earlier suspicion that big pharma would somehow blame Biden's $35 cap for the shortages.
I had a checkup with my endo today, and when I mentioned my suspicions of the insulin shortage being "retaliation" for the $35 insulin cap, he fully did a spit-take and agreed. Like, he agreed so hard.
@nyquildotorg I'm sure big pharma would be harvesting insulin from a bunch of incarcerated people if this was the case. It's the most expensive fluid by volume on the planet, so that'd be a great way to generate shareholder value.
