I am remembering something I understood intuitively when I was very young.

I feel better when I move.

It isn't about sport or exercise, though they can work. Perhaps hard to explain other than by contrast.

I was super passive yesterday, didn't even do any qígōng or táijì. I felt low all day and even into this morning.

I just came in from an hour of yard work and now feel massively better despite it being a chore I have disliked so much I spent years avoiding it.

I am learning to enjoy yard work by letting go of any specific objectives other than caring for the flora and fauna around our home season over season. I am letting go of house shame or even pride by embracing it is a process not a project. Signs of my progress are just that, signs I am working even on days I am not literally working in the yard.

More to my point, I am finding I can easily and enjoyable get lost in the movement required, similar to my moving meditation practices.

My gardening helps with my Productivity Goblin too but I try to avoid that as a motivation, rather enjoying it as a reward for exercising my love of moving and indulging my new found nature as a sun seeker.
