I've awakened early. Really could have used another night of long sleep. We'll see how today goes.
Furniture in the bedroom has been rearranged bit over the past few days and as a result, Ginza's cat tree is now located between the bed and the wall and that seems pretty convenient for her, putting her two favorite pieces of furniture right beside each other.
Last evening, when I got into bed, I felt it when she leapt from the floor onto the bed next to me, but immediately leapt from there...
I almost felt disappointed that she went up there instead of coming to fall asleep beside me...
Until about 10 minutes later as I'm starting to drift into the twilight between awake and asleep, she seemingly leapt from the perch on the tree to right beside me, purring loudly and then kneading the blankets and spinning around until she found her comfy niche and orientation.
And so the two of us went to sleep last night. She was soon utterly zonked out,
so zonked out that even when I needed to readjust myself and nudged and moved her some, she kept sleeping.
Ginza seemingly has no worries at all anymore when she falls asleep beside me.
I think sometimes she feels I'm like big clumsy mom to her, or maybe she feels that I'm a big clumsy kitten to her, one that she feels need to watch over and take care of as best she can.
It has become one of the most intense relationships I've had with a cat in my life.
So far can't say I'm enjoying the PNW spring weather. We will get sunshine today and tomorrow, highs reaching into low 60s, but after that forecast says six days of clouds and showers and temps down in the low to mid 50s.
Sunshine and warmth is important to my well-being and honestly I am nervous about later in the year when the cooler and wetter weather returns to this area along with the short hours of daylight.
While out on my walk today which was over an hour long and more than 3 miles, I took a picture of the ridiculous cumulus clouds that so often form on the days which aren't buried in dreary low hanging clouds.
A mom, a friend, I think she's happy to have one in her life after all the time she spent on her own outside.
She makes me smile so often during the day. Like this morning, I looked at her on the bed and she's using her catnip banana as a pillow for her head. She noticed me, rubbed her head into the catnip banana and chirped.
I'm amazed at how gentle and sweet her soul is after all those years without a close friendship.
The fact that a few people over the years had participated in feeding her certainly helped with making it easier for me to show her that I could be friendly toward her, though maybe she never anticipated how much friendlier a person might be.
She was so skittish when I first began feeding her and being allowed to pet her along the back of her neck and spine. Had to move so slowly or she would run off.
