I want a macropad keyboard that's also kind-of a watch. Like, it's a macropad, but you wear it on your wrist/arm.

@foone Like, does it Bluetooth to a PC?

foone,
@foone@digipres.club avatar

@trevorflowers yeah. Or RF to a receiver

@foone Wait... like this? Because I want this too. And the fact that these never went back in to production is proof that Nintendo has lost their cool.

@scrottie basically, but no glove part. Just the wrist part

@foone or a wearabke keyboard?

foone,
@foone@digipres.club avatar

@serapath nah. Those came up a lot when I looked for wearable keyboards. I want a keyboard that doesn't get in the way of my fingers

@serapath@mastodon.gamedev.place avatar

@foone really?
those came up a lot?
wow. you definitely know how to search the internet i guess.

i have NEVER seen a single wearable split keyboard and i am searching for years.

This is my side project i am working on since forever, because of that.

If you still have any of those links, let me know, definitely interested 🙂

Otherwise - not really sure how a keyboard is supposed to not get into the way of your fingers - thought that's the point.

But please shared if you find one

@serapath @foone Not a solution to foone’s wish, but the “twiddler feels like the best portable keyboarding solution and they’ve been iterating on it for … i dunno 20+ years now.

And it technically doesn’t get in the way of your finger …. At least not in the way of reaching outwards

@masukomi @foone
yes. twiddler seems to be the only device.
my issue with twiddler is, is doesnt have a mouse and it uses steep learning curve choording instead of a more familiar qwerty which one can remap.

also, this one is meant to folllow the open source DIY movement. and it's printed and the 3D case actually uses openjscad, so it makes it very different and open compared to closed source proprietary twiddler 🙂

@serapath @foone twiddler has incorporated a mouse since the beginning. I just checked and the latest one has too.

The in my experience the learning curve seems worse than it is BUT you’re never going to be fast

@serapath@mastodon.gamedev.place avatar

@masukomi @foone oh i see, you mean the joystick or trqckpad in the announced one which isnt available yet?

hm, twiddler is kinda the only device in that direction i am aware of and yes they exist since forever, but overall, aa you mention, you wont be fast using it.

the devixe i work towards is a regular, but split and wearable keyboard, so no reason to not be as fast as with a regular keyboard imho 🙂

@serapath yours is cool, and an interesting alternate solution to the problem. For clarity though i meant since like literally the first version of Twiddler something like 20+ years ago there has been a way to mouse.
