There is a thunderstorm here in Eastbourne just now unlike any I have ever experienced. The lightning is so bright it fills the whole room, with blinds down! The whole sky lit up again and again and again. It’s scary and i am scared of what is yet to come (climate change wise).

@pvonhellermannn Yeah we have thunderstorms like these in The Netherlands as well, on occasion. There is definitely a shift to more 'autumn' like weather during spring, in my experience, with stronger downpours instead of the gentle spring rains. The seasons are now like autumn-summer-autumn, autumn-like winter. I actually love thunderstorms, but yeah, make sure your electric equipment is safe (don't forget the fridge and your built-in kitchen equipment.)

OK electric storm is over and in light of day it doesn’t seem so bad, but it really felt apocalyptic in the night! Here some better drone footage

@pvonhellermannn 30 odd years ago I lived in Spain for a bit - I've noticed more 'spanish weather' in the UK in the last few years. (Stronger thunderstorms, sudden downpours.)

@pvonhellermannn

hugs

i always forget this phenomenon (common on the Gulf Coast) seems strange & violent elsewhere

main thing is to turn off items that might be harmed by a power surge like the AC -- or your computers if they're not already on surge protection

i enjoy the light show but when the sound is truly shattering, that's when it gets to me...

@peachfront oh thank you - yes, i can imagine this might be more normal elsewhere! Reassuring to hear this from you, and thank you also for your recommendations about power surges. We did actually have another terrible lightning storm here a few years ago, where phones, wifi boosters and a few TVs were destroyed in our street. Thank you, I feel much better!
