what I really don't like about the AI hype cycle is that "genAI" can mean either "generative AI" or "general AI" and those are two very very very different things that people keep munging together
@astrid i also hate how AI is loosely defined, what is an artificial intelligence? Are we really trying to recreate human intelligence? are we trying to recreate the intelligence of a rat? AGI or Artificial General Intelligence still has this problem. I actually still despise AGI as a concept because I think that it should be specialized to certain things. The datasets of these modern LLMs are so vast and so expansive it makes them nearly useless. It would be one thing to have an llm that's specialized but the dream of AGI? Really? "Jack of all trades" much?
