I suppose so. This cartoon applies more broadly to, for instance, the medias treatment of the BLM protests a few years back. The current Israeli/Palestinian conflict is fertile ground for reflexive control of the Western Left, I’m sure Putin is watching these campus conflicts with great pleasure.
@TruthSandwich
AFAIK, these are some agreed-upon data points.
In the months prior to Putin‘s birthday last fall, represent
from Hamas visited Moscow at least twice.
Also, it’s common knowledge that Netanyahu is more or less the Trump of Israel, has been tried for corruption, and will cling to power at any cost. For some reason, he inexplicably dismissed intelligence warning of the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7.
(coincidentally, or not, Putin‘s birthday).
US military support for Israel is vast and long-standing, there could be no doubt there would be a serious response to such an attack.
Putin and Hamas have both been happy to sacrifice innocent lives to achieve their goals. Dead Palestinian children arouse the fury of the American Left.
So, if one were to engineer a situation that would drive a wedge in the global Left, help reelect Trump, and trick naïve college students into finding common cause with the uber-antisemitic Hamas, would it be any different than what we’re seeing today?
Note how there was no broad protest movement triggered by various genocides, from Assad to Ukraine, but this war immediately spawned one.
I'm tempted to say that the difference is antisemitism, but that may be confusing cause with effect. Sure, the American left is more than happy to embrace antisemitism, uniting with the far right in this regard, but the protest movement looks inorganic to me.

I believe people saw lots of very violent imagery on TikTok. People I know started spewing violent slogans out of the blue on their social media. This is a very strong mind control device to radicalize people. Just ask Mike Flynn who worked at Fort Bragg developing this shit. You can't blame people from becoming very upset when they see the atrocities Bibi is perpetrating. It's just a factor that neither the US or Israel can control with their PR.
@TruthSandwich@markmetz
Except for Ukraine, which I was shocked that very few Americans seems concerned with, the level of coverage has been nothing like what is going on in Gaza. Close-up visceral real time coverage of the death and destruction. I'm not on TikTok but I have seen some posts.
@TruthSandwich@markmetz
I do believe the college campus protests were astroturfed and/or amplified by outside agitators and foreign enemies. It's just all too convenient heading into the 2024 election. Plus I saw photos of the Proud Boy leader there. I guess he is ex-leader, but I'm sure still involved in fascist ratfucking.
@TruthSandwich@markmetz
I haven't been to the protests, but from my understanding there are a whole range of people there including many Jewish students and professors. The media and police reaction has been ridiculous. They made the situation so much worse than it was.
