Tech pundits have been talking forever about their imagined need for Apple Pencil to be turned around and used as an eraser. Most of them stating that they don‘t use the Pencil much.

Let me tell you that nobody actually using the Pencil on a regular basis is missing this.

@marcel The Apple Pencil is DOOMED without the ability to turn it on it's side and rewind cassette tapes with it!!!

@marcel Never used the eraser much on my Wacom styli because it didn’t feel precise and convincing. So, didn’t miss it on the Apple pencil. However, the double tap on the side is frequently activated by just grabbing the pencil, so I’d love to see a well implemented eraser on the end that fixes both problems.

@ovan Turning the whole Pencil for every time you need to erase something just isn't a good interaction when you're actually working on something.

@ovan @marcel You can restrict the double tap to only trigger when holding the pencil near the screen.

@melgu @marcel Without haptic feedback the double tap is pretty much useless to me. The side button(s) from the Wacom stylus are perhaps the best compromise?
Even the stem of the AirPods has tactile feedback when you squeeze them, so that would be an improvement.

@ovan @melgu I've been using it for hours and hours and don't agree.
