I've given the two dense round shrubs at the front a haircut. One's a juniper of some kind, the other... I can't remember. I did ask here once and someone gave me an answer, but I've forgotten it. Anyway, it's a shrub and it needed a haircut.

They're right at the front of the property, and have a tendency to grow over the public footpath, so I have to trim them to make sure people can still get past. Someone last year advised me to trim every April and August... but, like I said earlier, April was shit so it's May now.

By the way, in case anyone worries, no, there aren't nesting birds in there (too low to the ground, I suspect).

I don't know why I'm telling you all this. It's not very interesting.

@RolloTreadway But you have made me feel better about not having got round to pruning a shrub that I meant to do in April and forgot.

Also made me smile at the image of giving a shrub a haircut, asking if it had been anywhere nice on holiday...

@eclectech Honestly, I'd be fired if I was taking this approach as a barber - largely because I've not trimmed them upwards. I'm quite happy for them to get a little taller if they want to. But I doubt many humans would be happy if I insisted on only cutting the hairs that grow out horizontally.

@RolloTreadway Thinking back to my wilder, younger, backcombed days I suspect I occasionally cut my own hair following that principle 😆

You may not think it’s interesting. I’m sure you’re mistaken. 😉
