Side of backyard #SoilRemediation area is doing well! My cover crops mixes are choking out the fugly colonial non-native grass. I have native grasses in my homemade mixed cover crops mix. This area that I'm standing on was dead zone for years because of hard clay blocking plant growths. It took me 3 yrs to get soil healthy enough to grow more diversity!
@sashin Purple matches the many natural greens of forests, it goes well with multiple tonal blues of seas & skies & natural Earth brown tones enhance vibrant colour. I'm OK just living in a colour combining coexistence with nature & all its natural colours 😃
I know people try to coordinate their outfits so that the colours compliment each other, but I've never heard of anyone coordinating so as to compliment the surrounding natural scenery!
@FiStitchWitch Thank you! Lots of work & loads of patience - nature teaches me so much. I'm rewilding as much of our backyard as possible. We get more wildlife coming & making safe homes here due to ongoing rewilding efforts. It makes me happy to work FOR NATURE!
@msquebanh It makes me so happy seeing people do this to their gardens. One of my neighbours put down fake grass and I almost cried. My garden supposedly has a patio surrounded by very wild flowerbeds, I pretty much leave it to do its thing now and get so many bees, visiting birds. My neat neighbours hate it, but I don't care.
@FiStitchWitch You'd probably have liked my solo picketing of 2 houses that had put in plastic grass turf, several years back. Silent pickets with strong messages on my signs like:
Your fake turf kills fish!
Birds die from microplastic turf!
Fake turf kills kids!
Nature is being choked to death!
Be a good human - SAY NO, TO PLASTIC TURF!
Lay down pollinator plants, NOT FAKE GRASS!
They called the cops on me but I kept returning for over 2 months. Both ripped out turf. They have gardens now.
@FiStitchWitch Best update: families in both those nearby homes I'd solo protested against are folks who apologized to me for calling cops on me. Those families not only visit me regularly but they've also bought & received several free plants from me, ever since they ripped out turf & started working with real soil & real plants.
You just never know how things can turn around or how people can change - if you don't step up & take your own direct actions with problems in your own communities!

I stay in a small village, with a very backwards mindset, everything must be neat, we must all do as so and so says. I stay in my family home, when my mum died, I took over...and I refused to bend to the wishes of the village, I will garden my way...they don't like it, but they can go whistle. Even if I do get stressed at the hate I get from the locals 😂

We have a "village in bloom" committee, they are so picky about everything being perfect. I got into an argument about one of their members strimming grass in a public area, I told him a lot of wild flowers were growing there, asked him not to cut it. His response was "well who planted the wildflowers? We have a dedicated area in the field for them"...oh boy, I had to explain to him how seed could carry on the wind or through bird droppings and new flowers appear 😂
@FiStitchWitch Neat = abiding by unnatural groomed colonialism to me - when it comes to how our outside yards & our interior homes look like(and natural life, in general). I like organized but am not into colonial 'neatism' - that violates nature's biodiverse, natural & perfect messiness 💗👐💗
@msquebanh I'm organised but chaotic, I spent years bending to suit other people. I don't have to now, so I won't and I sure as hell won't spend money or precious energy conforming to the village way of gardening!
@FiStitchWitch Nature is chaotic! Its our free access to chaotic nature & how it constantly adapts to human forced conditions! Perhaps, if we tap more into natural chaotic energies & equally powerful adaptation energies - we could all help to do more good to this Earth - our only liveable planet ❤️💗❤️
