Unixbigot,

I see it all the time, and I've no idea why, but I wonder what Chinese component suppliers think they are saying when they describe a connector in english as "Brick Nogging"?

@Unixbigot brick nogging is an English term!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brick_nog

in this context it refers to the little filler block that is placed inside of a connector cavity so that the pick and place machine can pick it up.

@Unixbigot here's an example:

@Unixbigot this is very reminiscent of @gsuberland ‘s recent adventures in “gold fingers”

Unixbigot,

@jpm @gsuberland yes i followed that with interest. I really must write up a “doing your own panels for jlc” tutorial because once you ingest the correct brainworms it is really quite quick.

@Unixbigot @gsuberland I’m really digging the KiKit plugin for KiCad to auto-panel

Unixbigot,

@jpm @gsuberland yeah that’s what i use, too. A bastard to set up but once you have a config file you like, it’s cut and paste between projects, and maybe place some custom tab footprints.

@jpm @Unixbigot whoops I meant to reply to both of you. clicky: https://chaos.social/@gsuberland/112431852447500890
