@heydon@davidaugust the fascists got 7 more seats and previous coalition had not enough votes to form a government. It's bad, but not as bad as in a two party system where one option is all democratic parties and the other is totalitarian.
@prefec2@heydon@davidaugust They're the second biggest party, and because the conservatives are just fine with fascism as long as they get to wreck the welfare system and crush the unions and worker rights, we now are going to have immigration laws written by nazi conspiracy nuts.
@prefec2@heydon@davidaugust Well, practically the "Dem" party is "composed" of multiple parties with the majority being center-right corporate-Fascist symphathizers. 😑
@Kye@heydon@davidaugust indeed this can be a huge issue. Esp. when conservatives try to copy the talking points of the fascists. As it is the case in Germany right now.☹️
@prefec2@Kye@heydon@davidaugust And The Netherlandsas well. In the past decade and a half our right wing libertarian government survived many scandals, fell, but get re-elected every time. The alternative is going even further right for Dutch voters, it seems. Those fascist parties are winning to become the second largest party, but crumble due to infighting and then get replaced by the next far right shit party gaining second place in elections.
@prefec2@Kye@heydon@davidaugust Finland turned against Marin's moderate left government mainly because the right rallied around "responsible" government debt management. After Covid & Ukraine the previous debt limits (for excellent reasons) had to be ignored. Us Finns pride ourselves in paying debts, but collectively don't understand the difference between household and national debt.
Then the "liberal right" winner wanted to cut and chose right over liberal and went to bed with fascists.
