There are useful bots like, for me, @flypapers – I wish I could filter for neuro-only papers, but the volume isn't high. Then there're neuroscience-specific servers like synapse.cafe and neuromatch.social – their local timelines may reveal further accounts you may like.
okay apparently I also need a different client, because both tusky and the main mastodon client have refused to send me notifications beyond random follow notifications
@dlevenstein@neuroecology It also shows what a post is replying to, much more clearly than with the browser! I… think I love it!! But what to others see when you see a quote post? Just the link to the quoted post? @IceCubesApp
@dlevenstein@neuroecology@IceCubesApp
On the plus side it asks you which language you want to post in when it detects different languages in the same post - very cool!
@elduvelle@neuroecology@IceCubesApp comment fait-il quand je poste en Francais?
But then run out of my rudimentary French and return to parle Anglais….. 😅
having all posts always expanded is maybe a bit too much
especially link previews are generally not so useful it would be good to have the possibility to go directly at the top (latest) of a timeline instead of having to scroll all the way up when you have lots of new posts
I like that it proposes new people to follow in the “explore” tab! Ideally those would only be active people though (I’ve been suggested people who haven’t been active in 3 months, or even some who haven’t posted at all…)
sometimes I get notification alerts but there are no new notifications 🤔
@neuroecology
I was going to make a list going through the people I follow to select "the best" for you... but I can't - they're all great! So feel free to parse them, or let us know more specifically what your interests are?
I'd also recommend looking at hashtags of interest (you can follow hashtags here)
and write an introduction post (with the hashtag # Introduction) so that you can see who gets attracted by it and then follow them (yes... like a honeypot 🍯)
@NicoleCRust@knutson_brain@neuroecology thanks!
yea, most of the people I follow here are still active on twitter. But I also follow hashtags here, which really broadens the experience compared to twitter
@neuroecology@Neurograce
Yes! (Not @Neurograce but:) Search for the hashtag, then click on the “+” at the top right, here’s an example screenshot where I’ve already clicked:
