"Safari or WebKit has many unavailable features and poor performance", "On iOS, some features are available only for Safari, and are/were not available for 3rd party browsers", "Safari lags behind web app support". (p 25)

"Mandatory use of WebKit impedes fair and equitable competition between Safari and third-party browsers … the opportunity to select other browsers with excellent
security, etc. is deprived. Users lose the choice of browsers that use browser engines other than WebKit, and are exposed to security risks." (p 26)

The Japanese regulator proposes an end to the : "Platform operators that provide OS of a certain size or larger shall be prohibited from requiring app developers to use OS providers’ own browser engines" (p 26) https://www.kantei.go.jp/jp/singi/digitalmarket/pdf_e/documents_230616.pdf
