dariusw,

What if we kissed after you promised to get a colonoscopy, because a big chunk of y’all are GenX, and even when you survive it takes over your fucking life if they have to cut you? Eat a salad!

  • zoomydu,

@Robotron @dariusw Stage 4 survivor, here. Diagnosed at 44. The prep is a walk in the park compared to chemo, chemoradiation, resection surgery, ostomy, ostomy reversal, permanent low anterior resection syndrome, loss of a lung lobe, and increased risk of secondary cancers courtesy of lifesaving treatments.

It’s utterly mind boggling to me that people drag their feet on a screening once/decade.

  • zoomydu,

@Robotron @dariusw appreciated, too. We need to be as vocal about this cancer as breast cancer survivors have been about their cancer. Once upon a time any discussion of breast health was stigmatized, too.

My dad never had a colonoscopy and was dead before 70. I only found out after my own diagnosis that it also killed one of his grandmothers. No one talked about it. My son, nieces, and nephew all must start their scopes by 30.
