@flexghost As an American, a Veteran, a minister, I am APPALLED at our representatives in Washington !! Why the the HELL did I give a life of service to others for if they are just going to slam this country into REVERSE ?!! Disgustingly BAD leadership and representation of what WE want …. NOT them !!
I can't keep up anymore. I just can't keep up. I want to open my heart and reflect when these things happen. I want to process it like I think we all do. But I feel like I'm being pelted by rain and then pelted by hail. I can't keep up anymore.
@jeber@flexghost I mean, I'm so far left you get your guns back. There really are quite a lot of people who would just outright ban guns if they could. The NFA nearly banned pistols.
I would ban cars if I could, but that's not going to happen either.
A big problem we run into with political conversations is that lots of people on both sides go with their emotions and with bad data, unnecessarily gumming up the conversation. For example ~170 mass shootings does not mean what you think it does.
@jeber@flexghost 170 is almost certainly using the Investigative Assistance for Violent Crimes Act of 2012 definition of a “mass killing,” which is “3 or more killings in a single incident.” and includes things like gang violence and family murder-suicides.
Those things are bad, yes, but they're not colloquially "mass shootings" and the solution to those problems is different from the solution to actual mass shootings.
