@eniko same, the stimulation it provides is very different from here. It might just be the people I follow. I think people I follow on bluesky are just the ones that were available 😂
@eniko I like twitter look so I used https://elk.zone/home
mastodon client, & I am liking it far more than twitter.
The time till bluesky comes out their will be probably far more people on Mastodon.
Bluesky also has same problem as Mastodon of attracting sufficient users.
Half of people I like are on twitter & other half on Mastodon.
@eniko It confuses me too. I like my shitposting but it seems like that's the majority of what I can find there at all. And more serious posts/topics seem to just sink immediately.
There's gotta be a healthy mix or things just don't work to me.
@eniko J*ck is involved and he already sucked at birdsite and led to its current state... why go to a place with him again? It's as much of a non starter as Threads is.
@eniko I’ve decided that if decentralised enthusiast-run SM fails, I’m just done with SM. I don’t trust any centralised or for-profit service and would rather just put stuff on my website instead. Higher friction for me but probably better overall
@eniko if it ever federates I'll check it out but it's hard for me to get too excited about it at the moment since I don't require social media for my job anyway
@gamingonlinux@eniko They missed their moment for sure. If they had opened invites after the Twitter rate limit fiasco started but before Threads launched they might have gotten some traction
@eniko I literally cannot tell. It's just wall to wall hell thread and thirst posting. The underlying vibe is like people left over at the end of a party, insisting that everyone needs to come back and do it again next week.
@eniko people pining for old twitter (which wasn't much better under Dorsey anyways...not a fan)
i've found that mastodon fits what i want out of a social platform: it's KINDA like twitter in presentation, but without all the advertising and clout-chasing bs. feels more laid-back and user-driven :blobhaj_love:
though i'm still new to it, so maybe i just haven't seen anything yet lol
@eniko I haven't looked at it myself, but the impression I get is people who were really really into Twitter are hoping it will replicate the glory days of Twitter. I expect those glory days are every bit as gone as Tumblr's. There isn't really a 'new Tumblr' and there won't exactly be a 'new Twitter' either.
