I'm 31 year-old award-winning author and poet that currently is focused on writing essays about anime and manga these days. I also watched Groundhog Day once a day, every day, to celebrate the movie's 30th anniversary.

Watching The Sword and the Stone on the VCR as background noise and have to share my objectively correct opinion that Arthur absolutely fumbled by not living out the rest of his life raising a family with this absolute queen.

He had an absolutely adoring lady who was head over heels for him AND a cutie to boot? How DARE he leave her heartbroken! Fuck England, we didn't need British people taking over the world but she did need her man! :meowbongorage:

Heck, feeling a tad rough today. Worn out is an understatement. One of those times you're so tired it's hard to do things that help you recharge, ya know?

I need like, non stop cuddles and silly movie watching. Perhaps pizza, or like, those easy throw in the microwave yakisobas. Caffeine also wouldn't hurt.

Who's down for a dollar store run and snug? I'm sure we can travel through the internet to make this happen! :meowthinking:

My cat is very rudely taking up all the space where I'm sitting so my stump leg has nowhere to go. I enjoy that she wants to snuggle up to me that badly, but it's getting extremely uncomfy!

Today I have an appointment to see if I can become a part of the disability lift program the local bus system operates. Considering the bus stop near my place has been violating the ADA since the four years I've been here AND had resulted in me getting injured... You'd think this will be a slam dunk.

Still, I'll be forced to go IN PERSON today for a meeting while being immunocompromised. There's extremely little chance anyone there will be wearing a mask. Oh, and my scheduled pickup time is TWO hours before the appointment and my ride home? An entire hour after. It took me an entire month of waiting to even get this meeting too!

It's really gross that the time of disabled people isn't valued. Being disabled is often a full time job in and of itself, this kind of junk shouldn't be added onto it. I just want to leave my house safely and easily on occasion without fear of how I'll get home. That shouldn't be asking much, but here we are.

Since I have lots of new followers today, I think it's time to finally update my post!

My name is Borealis, but most online know me as the LiteralGrill! You can call me Allie or Grill for short. I'm trans and an Ursa, think of a gay bear but in a femme form. She/Her pronouns please!

I actively fight for disability justice and will discuss that here as much as I'll share my love for anime and manga (maybe a little more tbh). I often write essays analyzing media or discussing anime history and you'll find a surprising number of times that those two topics intertwine in my works.

I tend to dig old media formats in general and love weird retro tech! I still avidly enjoy my growing VHS and LaserDisc collections. I have quite the board game collection too with some real oddities in there.

While I am a big supporter of content warnings and you'll see me use them often, you won't find them on educational posts or on anything discussing the realities of my life as a disabled trans person. I will however, always make sure these posts have appropriate hashtags so you can filter them out of your feed. If you need to protect your peace by not following or blocking me, I take no offense and completely understand. I hope you'll understand that not censoring the realities of my life from the world is part of how I protect mine.

I'm often stuck inside as an immunocompromised person in an ongoing pandemic (COVID isn't over and I take it seriously) so I'll rarely turn down a good conversation! Or if you just want to hear me info dump on obscure trivia of some kind that I'm researching for my next big article.

Before I forget... Yes, I'm that bonkers grill that watched Groundhog Day 365 days in a row! So expect my knowledge of time loops to be oddly all encompassing.

You'd better realize disability justice, Palestinian liberation, and SO many more causes are all tied together in this one movement and show solidarity.

Without the Black Panthers, we disabled people would not have succeeded in this occupation of a federal building.

These same people also called for the liberation of Palestinians. From a press conference in 1970, “We support the Palestinian’s just struggle for liberation one hundred percent. We will go on doing this, and we would like for all of the progressive people of the world to join in our ranks in order to make a world in which all people can live."

Even back then, people claimed these Black folks were "racists in reverse" and called them antisemitic. This pattern would continue to be used to silence people. Hell, remember when the BLM movement came under fire for its support of Palestine while Palestinians painted murals of George Floyd?

When you come to realize Black people have higher rates of Disability than the white population because of garbage our police state puts them through, you should start to get it. We ALL must fight against colonizers across the world.

P.S. Let's not forget when Netanyahu himself sent cops to beat and arrest disabled protestors in Israel who were occupying roads, buildings, and even set up a one week encampment at one point, to fight for basic disability rights from 2017 to 2019.

Oh wait, did you never hear of the Disabled Panthers movement in Israel? Wonder why that got hushed up! Anyways, did you know the NYPD trains with the IDF? Who gave them the idea to beat folks occupying buildings and starting encampments do ya think, was it the guy calling for cops to be even more brutal to protestors this very week?

In all seriousness, all of these movements are the same movement in the end. We all want liberation, justice, and fair treatment. We're all tired of fascist police states taking that from us. Remember the 3.5% rule and let us all be a part of those numbers together to liberate the world!

Why do folks think that so many people are JUST learning what Kent State even was this week? Why folks never learn the more radical teachings of Martin Luther King Jr.?

Seriously, even when this hopefully all ends and finally Israel is forced to stop this horrific slaughter, THE FIGHT IS NOT OVER.

Too many people out there are saying things like "the kids are alright" or even worse "the kids will save us" and it's sickening to hear. We cannot stop pushing once people get to feel mildly comfortable again. These students need to not be making these massive sacrifices for nothing.

We HAVE to finally fortify and fucking win for once because otherwise we've allowed the use of police to brutalize any citizen peacefully protesting against a fucking GENOCIDE to become normalized.

Anything free is worth saving up for! Someone at my apartment complex abandoned their place and literally told everyone to take whatever was left there that they wanted.

Got some nice fancy stuff today for the cost of nothing and used my toolbox to help neighbors disassemble furniture. A weirdly wholesome community experience.

Especially excited to finally have a nice shelf for behind my toilet to store the towels on as well as some VERY expensive olive oil and some extremely pricey dog carrier bags that will now be kept in case of emergencies with the cats.

Overall, a nice surprise to start off the day!

Okay this might be silly but... Do any other gender nonconforming folks out there struggle with how to present yourself in a "sexy" way because you lack examples to work from? I have aphantasia and can't picture stuff in my head to fantasize about and like, know if it might be hot to others.

I know logically, I should just try to focus on features I like about myself, accentuate them with clothes, camera angles, etc. At least, I figure focusing on what makes me happy about myself should be the way to go? But if I try to snap a naughty selfie for my partner to flirt, or even just take regular selfies these days, I never seem to be satisfied with how they turn out.

It'd be way easier if I had someone who liked what I had to offer giving me specifics on what and why. But being so outside the norm, it's not like there's tons of art or people making longing horny posts for girls who are basically bears like me lol. So I lack inspiration.

Alas, my partner very much loves me for me and bodies just aren't a priority to them (I know, such a "bad" problem to have lol) so they find me sexy, but that comes from demisexual emotional stuff. So iunno what to do! I just wanna feel like my sexy self a lil more like I used to.

Any ideas from those brave enough to read all that?

Love medical rides to appointments, love being picked up 20 minutes early to my scheduled pickup time. Love being dropped off an entire hour before my appointment starts. Love having to wait up to an hour after my appointment to get a ride home. Love how my time as a disabled person is valued by society at large /s

Love my ride home not showing up on time. Love calling to ask and them saying they are stuck in traffic and are just running a bit late and to be patient. Love waiting 40 minutes to be called and told the person actually just cancelled the ride at the last minute and I was lied to before by the dispatcher. Love being told I can get another ride if I wait an ENTIRE hour more. Love that I have to pay out of pocket for a ride home because I need to take my meds on time or I'll be doing really horribly and I'm already going to be taking them away too late now. Love that my time as a disabled person is valued!!! /s

LOVE being dropped off over three blocks from my requested location!!! LOVE getting absolutely soaked trying to wheel to my appointment in the rain where my grips are so slippery on my chair from the water that I can hardly get traction!!! LOVE that the driver ignored me saying we weren't in the right place and forced me to get off anyways!!! LOVE THAT EVERY NECESSARY MEDICAL APPOINTMENT I GO TO INVOLVES BEING EMOTIONALLY BRUTALIZED BY PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO CARE FOR YOU!!!
