I, for one, would love you all to follow me on , too: https://www.threads.net/@avbelow

@below I always love following you, wherever you go ;) But I am not too enthusiastic about working around Meta and EU regulations to get an account for a service that allows me to throw even more of my data at another data harvesting company run by yet another tech CEO psycopath.

@flo_muc Fair enough!

@below Why should I ? It‘s still a proprietary platform and it‘s still owned by Zuck, the guy who brought us Facebook. I managed to ignore Facebook, I managed to ignore Twitter, so I will ignore Threads as well.

    @phranck No. With a US iTunes account, you can simply install the app. There are no invites, this is Meta. They know how to run large platforms

    @below @phranck and they know how to monetize it 🤪

    @eltom @phranck Nothing wrong with that, I think. And if they indeed make $8 bil USD / year with it, Zuck can soon buy Twitter

    @below @phranck From a privacy perspective it“s very interesting that Meta is not launching Threads within the EU. GDPR and the Digital Market Act, I hear you…

    @below@mastodon.social avatar

    @eltom @phranck Listen to Podcast (https://podcasts.apple.com/de/podcast/haken-dran-das-twitter-update/id1654663744) for a good explanation: Meta knows about GDPR and the DMA, and they try to avoid any mistake when launching Threads. Launching in the EU, and then having to withdraw for a violation would be a disaster. Thus, they try to make sure the app is compliant.
    They leave making mistakes to Elno

    @below @phranck I agree.

    @sneezr No, still a mess. But it worked when I wanted to download threads
