@below I always love following you, wherever you go ;) But I am not too enthusiastic about working around Meta and EU regulations to get an account for a service that allows me to throw even more of my data at another data harvesting company run by yet another tech CEO psycopath.

@phranck No. With a US iTunes account, you can simply install the app. There are no invites, this is Meta. They know how to run large platforms

@eltom @phranck Listen to #hakendran Podcast (https://podcasts.apple.com/de/podcast/haken-dran-das-twitter-update/id1654663744) for a good explanation: Meta knows about GDPR and the DMA, and they try to avoid any mistake when launching Threads. Launching in the EU, and then having to withdraw for a violation would be a disaster. Thus, they try to make sure the app is compliant.
They leave making mistakes to Elno
