If you're someone who is interested in exploring the microscopic world, no matter your background, I recommend joining the San Francisco Microscopical Society as a member ($12/year).

No matter where you live, you get an online community of folks to geek out with and ask questions to, and if you're in the Bay Area, there are weekly events.

If you join by December 15th, you'll get a free Nikon Small World calendar to kick off your year of exploration: https://sfmicrosociety.org/join

The San Francisco Microscopical Society was founded back in 1870. They're a 501(c)3 non-profit, entirely run by volunteers (including myself).

@violetmadder start today! we have members join who haven’t picked up a microscope yet but want to learn more

I have a little USB scope, but I don't have $12 at the moment.

I love aquaponics and looking at the things living in the water.
