The aliens came in 1879. No one knew about their secret invasion until it was too late. They didn't want our resources or destroy us. Not in the traditional way, at least. They wanted just the mineral part the planet. Everything else was unnecessary. So, they unleashed their nanomachines. Eli was a quiet guy who hated his neighbors, the Cooks; they were annoying: lots of loud backyard cookouts, blocking his driveway, and complaints about how he didn't cut the grass. Eli wanted revenge. He noticed the Cooks like to feed the birds; they gushed over them. So, Eli built an AI cyber-squirrel. ‘Red’ could solve any maze, empty the feeders in minutes, was good at breaking into the Cook’s attack (where it stored seeds to attract mice), and best, chewing power cables.
