New Netflix sci-fi show with a great Rotten Tomatoes score gets a thumbs up from The Last Jedi's Rian Johnson

Netflix's new sci-fi show 3 Body Problem has had its fair share of positive reviews, but now it's got the seal of approval from The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.

"Three Body Problem is up now on Netflix," Johnson tweeted. "To see the ideas and images in Liu Cixin’s books realized on this scale and told this well is exciting… and if you’ve read the books you know the places this all ends up going, and it’s INSANE. Worth strapping in for the ride, I promise."

HeyLow,

I enjoyed it, though it has a slow start just like the expanse

Hope it gets a season 2 but knowing netflix it will prob die like altered carbon

I could not care less what that hack finds interesting, but the books are very good sci-fi, even if most of the characters are awful.

If the adaptation makes an effort to temper some of the weirder turns that the books take on gender, the series might turn out to be worth watching.

Just two of the things that had me disgusted with the author: Government gives a dude a perfect woman as payment to save the world and literally no-one in the story seems to stop to think of this woman as a person. Prolonged peacetime causing the entire male gender to become “feminized” in the future, and this apparently rendering humanity too “girly” to maintain an interstellar stalemate that prevents our extinction.

This stuff is from the second and third book, the first, which will of course be adapted first, remains mostly sane. I’m very interested in seeing how people react to the plot if it pulls this same stuff in front of a modern audience in future seasons.
