@tinker the reason I'm not dooming is that for AP Masto already has such dominance yet people are iterating on the platform like crazy with Peertube, Lemmy, Firefish, etc. With Automattic supporting AP with WP plugins and future Tumblr support, plus the EU investments and watchdogs on Meta's tail, Meta won't have as easy time as Google did taking over XMPP.
