This is absolutely outrageous😡. You can argue the safety case for operating but what is undeniable is despite the having had commercial nuclear since 1956, not one gram of the incredibly lethal waste has been placed in a safe repository. The technical challenges of safe storage are immense, the political challenges even bigger. No community will ever agree.

Until the nuclear cycle can be safely closed (it can't), atomkraft nein danke.

@geomannie There is also a potentially significant problem in their siting - by the sea with predicted rises (levels unknown). A problem that is not being discussed in Britain at the moment.

@Wen It is discussed in some quarters (scientific , not political) but I shudder to think of the state of Dungeness in 100 years. What a horrible legacy to leave our great grandchildren.

@geomannie Yes, We were asked to review some of the models being used. We are not climate modellers, but some of our software is being used by a number of scientists and we were asked to advise on some of the structural issues and sensitivities.
