In all seriousness though, I kinda liked the tricolor, I would've liked to see some green. Definite improvement over the original on all counts though.
It's because there are two saltires there. There's the white one with a blue background for Scotland, and a red one with a white background for Northern Ireland (originally for all of Ireland). Rather than splitting the field up in to segments of blue and white to accommodate both saltires, the Irish one got a quite border instead, just like the English cross has.
Nah mate, get St David's cross on there. Alternate it with the St George's one, just like the St Andrew's and St Patrick's ones currently are. Keep the theme going.
I also preferred the stripes, but I'd say this one is more than okay. I think opinions would generally be more positive if we didn't have the original design to compare to. A downgrade, but still a great flag nonetheless.
That’s a really great redesign! I love that you managed to keep the original symbolism in there while dramatically simplifying things and making an overall more satisfying flag.
As a Marylander, however, I am now legally obligated to stab you through the chest with a live crab. 😔
Continuing with the trend of vexillological organizations having their own flags, the Flag Society of Australia has one. While the flag within the flag looks really cool and has a nice color palette, I think the flag as a whole looks a bit odd. The Southern Cross looks weird since its stars are crowded closer together but not shrunken themselves, and the arrangement of everything just doesn't work imo.
Just recently, I got ownership of this magazine since the previous one has been inactive for a while. The first thing I'm experimenting with is changing the icon for this magazine with a new flag! The magenta is from Kbin's logo, and the slash evokes both the shape of the logo and the slashes in "/m/" (or "/c/" if you're on Lemmy).
EDIT: If you have any ideas for an icon or would prefer to just leave it as is, please share!
