Do you use AllTrails, GAIA GPS or onXmaps?
Surprise! Bet you did not know you are indemnifying those companies.
Worst case translation: The company is sued and you must reimburse the company for the attorney fees they spend defending themselves. That is my understanding of the gist of “indemnification”.
In my recent two week trip I gave #OrganicMaps 2023.09.22-20 a try. I ran it on an iPhone13 Pro running iOS 16.7.1 connected to a 2022 Honda CR-V EX. Much of my driving was through places with no mobile coverage, including places where I needed to enter a new route. I also used google maps some of the time. For the price I paid ($0, no surveillance) it was a great product. In many cases, it was much better than #GoogleMaps. 1/
Most of my destinations were #hiking trailheads in BLM land or National Forests in #Utah, #NewMexico, and #Colorado. The typical way to get a route to them is to open up #AllTrails and click on "Directions". That gives me options: Open Apple Maps, Open Google Maps, and Copy to Clipboard. No "Open Organic Maps". Instead, I copied to the clipboard, and pasted into the search on #OrganicMaps. This worked great. 5/
#Strava paid is $99/yr, #AllTrails is $36. Im remembering why i deleted Strava now. I’m too frugal for that. I’d expect a care package each year for that much 🤑
