Wtf of the day so far: I finished reading a book, went to open the Goodreads app on my Kindle Fire. And all I get is a screen that says "We no longer support the Goodreads app on Fire tablet." and tells me to go to the website.

So...like...Amazon's own tablet is no longer using the app that they bought? But the website still exists, and my (old) iOS version still works...why just their very own platform? The Google Play store just says that the app is not available for this device.

Kind of pissed off because I liked having it on a portable tablet-sized device. But mostly bewildered because it makes no sense.

(And Bookwyrm has no Android app or I'd switch to that...)

Very cool of Amazon to put unnecessary ads in their shows just so they can charge us more money to get rid of the ads that don't need to be there in the first place.

It's the digital equivalent of the Coca-Cola Company putting rocks into cans of soda and then introducing "New and improved Rock-Free Coke, only one dollar more than the rock-filled original!".

@lowqualityfacts Well someone has to pay so can play astronaut. The cardboard box just isn't cutting it any more. 🙄

Im sure Amazon are getting worse. Apparently, the driver punched the box to force it into the locker. This kind of thing is why I cancelled Prime and try to use anywhere else if I can.

Also, the other item I ordered was a day late, because of course it was.

Wishing there could be a service whereby you buy an album; get immediate access to its music digitally, and then the record or cd arrives in the mail in a few weeks.

Does such a thing exist that I know not of?

@tsh2 Yeah, here they have unlimited streaming from their service; but for an MP3 (so one may listen from any device, with or without a connection, and without always hogging banwidth) the MP3 id $10USD. Which is kinda BS. And, it's Amazon.

I wish such a service existed that indie record stores could use to get customers ez access to audio downloads. Sure, I can get a USB record player, but—ugh.
