@FullOnElectric Your anti-FCEV rhetoric is just a repeat of anti-BEV rhetoric of 10 years ago. It is both an ironic situation and is an example of short-sighted thinking. The simple fact is, FCEVs are also EVs, and have fundamental advantages over alternative EV designs. People with foresight have realized that this will be a major market if not the true future of the car industry. The people who oppose this will prove to be Luddites.
@FullOnElectric@Hypx A battery is an electrochemical device where chemicals are stored on both electrodes. A fuel cell is an electrochemical device where both electrode chemicals are supplied externally. My guess is that when dust settles most of our electrified small vehicle fleet will be BEVs with fuel cell range extenders. The only debate should be how do we sustainably transition from where we are now to that end point. #BEV #FCEV
Toyota Camry 12.5kgCO2/100km. Toyota Mirai FCEV about same size 7.5kgCO2/100km using SMR H2. H2 is a long term storable fuel, so green hydrogen can be added to H2 inventory at any point, any time and in any amount to lower this climate number. A Tesla Model 3 charged with coal electrons comes in at 12kgCO2/100km. Because the electrical grid is a just in time delivery system, to lower this number, a renewable source has to be available in surplus at time of charging. #FCEV #BEV
Hydrogen bus project cancelled in France once it was realized that they could accomplish the same for 1/6th the cost using Electric buses.
I mean... it's just common sense. We already have an electrical grid, not a hydrogen distribution network.
Plus, Converting energy to electricity to battery potential to motion is WAAAY more efficient than converting energy to hydrogen and then converting it back.
… they can take rare metal catalysts out of fuel stacks? ,,, #H2FC stack maintenance is zero, as #BEV#batteries are over their lifetime (measured in decades)? … hydrogen distribution and pricing is equivalent to the electricity grid? … when they can store #hydrogen safely at high densities at ambient temperature and pressure? … when the production of #H2FC vehicles rises above 100’s per year?

Another reminder that we should've invested in a diversity of technologies. Hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fuel cell cars are all needed. Eventually, the BEV will be shown to be a fad and only a transitional technology. It is too expensive to be more than a niche and a small part of personal transportation.
