qurlyjoe, 15 days ago to random #CactusFlowers Apparently it’s National #Cactus Day. Here are two prickly pear flowers. June 2017 Closeup photo of a yellow prickly pear cactus flower. Taken in the Devils Backbone natural area in Larimer County, CO. The flower is flanked on either side by the paddle shaped cactus body, with spikes poking out. The park is named that because of its geological formation, a ridge of highly eroded sandstone sticking up from the surrounding high desert hills, giving the appearance of a string of vertebrae extending about a half mile just before you reach the Big Thompson Canyon that runs up the foothills from Loveland to Estes Park. June 2017.

lbharter, 8 months ago to Bloomscrolling Another #throwback to the 2017 #superbloom in the #MojaveDesert, with arguably the most showy of #DesertWildflowers, the beavertail pricklypear #cactus #bloomscrolling #CactusFlowers #desert #Nevada #NativePlants A single cactus, friendly-looking without long spines, holding numerous bright pink blossoms in the bright sunshine. Beyond, dry-looking desert dotted with creosote, backed by distant purple mountains and high clouds streaking the blue sky.

jeanoappleseed, 10 months ago to random #CereusPeruvianusMonstrose #Bloom this morning. Good morning from #Pasadena. 🌞 & 32°c (90°F) but I get the feeling we’ll actually exceed 35°c (95°F) based on the last few days. But it’s quite dry. Time to continue planting #AndyTheTortoise’s new plants including Australian violets which he loves to snack on. Enjoy the weekend! #CactusFlowers #Xeriscaping #MastodonGardening #Cactus Cereus Peruvianus Monstrose cactus with a large mostly white flower
