Just finished Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938, and it was a delight for Rang to finally get that happy ending he deserved. The first Nine Tailed was bittersweet and I felt shattered for his sake, even if it was a fitting ending for him. This drama was the perfect love letter for his character.
And dangit, Lee Dong Wook needs to do more dramas with long, flowing hair. He rocks that look.
Though I have to say ... it is a tad on the nose with the nationalistic fervour, though it is perfectly understandable for that period when Korea was colonised by Japan. Now, if this was a #CDrama, I know that they'd be shouts of "I'm not watching this because it's propaganda" already lol
Couldn't believe that my guess about the central secret of The Joy of Life was correct!
Props to the writer for skirting the weird tie travel censorship in this creative way even if the beginning scene with the novelist made me go WTF. This is a drama that defied my expectations even if the sets made me go OMG HENG DIAN with each scene and the outfits sometimes make me go WTF ARE THEY WEARING?
I'm now trying to decide what to watch next and looking at the current slate of dramas, it'll probably be continue #TheLegendofShenLi and start #BlossomsInAdversity. Though if I want to be more ahem, responsible, I should pick from this list I created for myself 😛
It is indeed an odd experience to be part of the 1% of the human population who was not swept up by the #Untamed craze and kept failing to be swept up by it despite numerous times trying to.
I tried reading the novel, watched the donghua and even the #Cdrama and could not last more than a couple of episodes. People tell me to "soldier on" for a few more EPs but I couldn't I just couldn't.
Also tried reading the author's other books & just 😴
Oh my - a #cdrama dilemna…
City in the City series just dropped on iQiYi.
About a bank teller & a bank VP in the Shanghai finance sector. Not usually a topic I enjoy.
Director is not that great. Script is based on a novel.
But wow… the MLs are super good!
Bai Yu Fan was brilliant in Ripetown, Reset and Minning Town.
Yu He Wu is a pro - Lead in Three Body, Rebel Princess and was crafty Cao Cao in The Advisors Alliance…
Was halfway watching #TheLegendofShenLi which I enjoyed, surprisingly. (I think of the first arc as Meet Yourself, #xianxia version 🤭.) I love our main couple's idyllic countryside life, the cooking scenes. It was a respite from their duties as bigwigs in the heavenly realm.
Most of all, I am liking the fact that we have a mature couple, acted by older actors in a genre dominated by mostly young actors.
I am currently seperated from my beloved Chromecast and TV so have to make do without my Youku, WeTV and iQIYI. So I am rewatching Ancient Detective. I watched it many moons ago in a very chaotic fashion, so I made a promise to rewatch it, but slower. It's even better than I remember - a #wuxia detective tale, very classic in its set up; focuses on brotherhood and fighting between sects, the whole deal. Every character is unique! If you've not watched it, give it a try!
Top billing actress Zheng Shuang under tax evasion charges, also sued by production firm for owing them US$12.5 million, faces 3-year jail if assets concealed #cdrama
1930s Shanghai, that looks a lot like 1930s Chicago gangsters? Big budget? Big name stars? swoons
It's gonna be intense, I can tell already. It also seems to be setting up the backstory of how the Communist party was able to rise in China 100 years ago (from the Chinese Communist Party perspective), with a diligent, talented, poor handsome fella (Yibo) as protagonist. Fascinating.
I watched all episodes of #InBlossom - no spoilers, promise.
I love it. Love, love, love it. Am very satisfied and happy with the ending.
Sure, it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but Pan Yue (or rather, Liu Xueyi kahkahkah) gave me so much joy. Darling, please grace me with your abs and embroidered hanfus once again. The world needs this community service.
Watching ep 14 of Sunrise on the River and I LOLed at the whole thing.
So our main character is sent to "Communist Party school" to "improve on his service", and he is forced to room with his arch nemesis & colleague so that they could improve their "comradeship".
"Team building", communist style!
