I've been doing more Craft CMS 5 testing of my plugins this weekend and re-used a little trick I came up with when I made the jump from Craft 3 to Craft 4.

I wrote about how you can use the Guide plugin and Craft UI Elements to test out custom fields in your plugins and modules. Hope this comes in handy to other devs out there!

#SelfDelivery 🤔

As alternative to #Dogfooding that many feel has negative connotation.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eating_your_own_dog_food

Not liking other alternatives, such as "Icecreaming" (too vague), "Drink your own champaign" (too posh), and "Eat the food you cook" (too long).

A definition may be:

> Self Delivery is a continual improvement method whereby the creator of a solution is also a client that uses it, gaining insight in how the solution conforms to stated needs, that are fed back into the design proces.

Awesome news!

's Reader just released a new version on and with paged scrolling. Meaning, it's no longer just endless scrolling, but you can use the physical buttons and/or tap to scroll page by page.

This is especially useful for devices, such as my Leaf 2! Don't forget to enable reduced animations for an even better experience!

@voxpelli My Leaf 2 isn't the fastes thing, so it takes a bit patience when using the app, but generally it works quite well indeed!

Additionally, they're still optimizing the app with partial focus on making it better on eInk devices, which is underlined by at least two employees at actively using Boox devices themselves. So it doesn't seem like just an afterthought.

Pixelfed was forked, I joined their discord and gave them a piece of my mind

Forks fucking rule, I'm happy to see this. Open source is crucial to the fediverse, and while we all might not agree on everything, it feels amazing to desire to work with forks

Y'all are the real winners, even more so when devs like me do the unthinkable and bring awareness to forks

@swelljoe @dansup

Yeah I was going to chime in about that - BIG RED FLAG when a/any/new project or fork of one dismsses the importance of on in favor of a proprietary, privacy disrespecting monolith like discord.

That tells me everything I think that one needs to know about this so-called, "pre-fork".

When a few boneheads made up some issues on why The GIMP offended them, they forked it (calling it Glimpse), they withered and died in embarrassment.

Like yak-shaving and dogfooding among software developers circles, cat-herding is a colourful idiom common in community development circles.

Consider that we're all fiercely independent beings. Like cats! So in the absence of a formal decision-making structure that everyone has agreed to follow, trying to get people to all pull in the same direction, to achieve shared goals, can be like herding cats.

No offence is meant to any human beings (or cats!)

I've been musing passively about how I can develop locally while still making requests in order to test with real HTTP requests, and was pretty close to just deploying my code on a test subdomain (and then making the call to my server — crag.social), but then realized I could just stand up two instances on my machine and have them gab to each other instead
