One of my favorite museums in the world is the Villa Giulia in Rome. It houses the National Etruscan Museum. It falls outside most quick tour routes, and it is a lovely, peaceful, elegant museum with a very rich collection.
See the pretty vases below, with various mythological scenes :) Recongize them?
#Etruscan trumpet-shaped earring, dating 4th/3rd century BC. Hollow gold, decorated with filigree and pseudo granulation. Earrings such as this were popular from 5th to 3rd century BC.
A painted #Etruscan terracotta cinerary urn lid with a reclining woman.
Found in Chiusi, dating 150-120 BC.
On display at Badisches Landesmuseum Karlsruhe.
This Etruscan fresco is thought to date to c. 475 BCE. It is part of a tomb decoration from Tarquinia, legendary home of the Roman king Lucius Tarquinius Priscus though long after his time!

Meet Etruscan #Zeus or #Tinia watch his adult son #Hercle being breastfed by his wife #Uni [Hera] as a sign of adoption. #Aplu [#Apollon] and another god and goddess are present to witness the ritual too.

An Etruscan rhyton in the shape of a dog's head, terracotta, 475 BCE.
I had to look 'rhyton' up: It's an ancient, animal-shaped vessel used for pouring liquids. Since they normally have an opening at each end, this rhyton is actually upside-down in the photo. In any case, the potter who made it was a very fine artist.

Bronze mirror case depicting the abduction of #Ganymedes by Zeus. Several people are standing around when #Zeus lifts up the Trojan prince into the air but they can't do anything to stop it.
