So yesterday I went out to buy a used bike trailer off a guy on craigslist (since that’d a car trip I also ran other errands)
and I got there and looked at it for a bit and poked at it and it’s pretty dirty and it needs some work but it’s not too bad but it also needs mods for me to use it as a real cargo carrier
so since he was asking $30 I said “how’s $25?” and he kinda grimaced before saying okay and I was like
dude this is craigslist of course I’m gonna offer less it’s a RULE OF CRAIGSLIST ACQUISITION
you can say no you do get that right
do you not know the rules of craigslist acquisition?!
The first rule of craigslist acquisition of course is that every customer is a flake and if they show up at all they’re already in the superior negotiating position.
The second rule is always list for more than you want because
the third rule is always offer less than they ask!
do we need to codify this?
are there esoteric variants of which I am not aware? and if so what are they?
But seriously, people who don’t support #open#standards, how are we gonna achieve a #StarTrek future where we can easily have video calls among ships from different planets and races, including #Klingons and #Romulan ships?
Do you think the #Ferengi created a video call app to unite races from all over the Universe and they’ll never take advantage of owning that app?
Would you trust the #Ferengi? Then why you trust the tech bros?
I feel like I occupy this weird place in the #startrek#fandom as a lover of the lore and details who wants an internally consistent secondary world, prefers when #canon is followed, and likes explanations like the #Klingon augmentvirus from #ENT while disliking reimaginations like in #DIS; while conversely thinking that trek is metaphorical and caring about whether a new star trek show's themes, plot, and character development are there and have anything to actually say or add.
@tekrelm I get the same feeling from #SteveShives as well, and I specifically was like "what's wrong the this" the whole time he kavetched about #Affliction and #Divergence in #ENT. I think he plays it up for the meme a bit, but I find it totally alien and someone infuriating to me that people get MAD about FIXING a continuity error, as if they liked it not making sense. I get the same impression to everyone who dissed anyone complaining about the #Ferengi redesign in #DIS.
It really is more often than you would think
I'd definitely watch this movie
