Whatever happened to Sidi cycling shoes?! They used to be sold everywhere in the US. Does everybody just despise QBP (the new distributor) and has decided to stop selling them? #cycling#BikeTooter#gravelbike
Of course - makers and buyers still have to find each other. So labels and categories still make sense. So what is a road bike, what is an allroad bike? And what is a Gravelbike, a Race Gravel bike and an Adventure Gravel bike? These all are moving targets, as I regularly and quite currently in my latest Gravel Bike Tech and Trend Report 2024 article write about. Find it here: https://wp.me/p2p0yf-3lq (Article in German)
What you might want to consider when looking at new Gravelbikes like Rose Backroad FF, Canyon Grail v2, BMC Kaius, Fara F/Gravel, Enve MOG and more. Their geometry, aero bags, integrated cockpits…
And what I would like bike designers and product owners to know and consider…
I stopped to visit with my brother at the volunteer fire station today and discovered they have bike rack with tools (including an actual JIS #2 screwdriver!) available all year long.
Not sure if we're at gravel season yet, but I took it for a shakedown and got to try it out on ALL manner of conditions! Coming from riding fat bike w/studded tires on Tuesday to 40mm slightly knobby tires today was a big change. Oh, and clip-less pedals, been a while since I've done that.
Gravelowy wypad na drugą stronę Magicznego Lasu. Szumiące gumy, stara asfaltowa droga. Zapomniane poradzieckie lotnisko. Słońce, coraz śmielej szczebioczące ptaki, rój owadów, młoda pokrzywa i jasnota purpurowa, zapach lasu, czyli nieprawdopodobny klimat przedwiośnia skondensowany w trzydziestokilkukilometrowym kręceniu korbą.
I have been cycling for decades. Not a trendy cyclist - I just commute, do errands, and when I can afford to I do touring. So I missed out on when/how gravel became a thing.
What is the big deal with "gravel" riding? How in hell is a gravel bike different than a hybrid bike? Just having knobbies on a mountain bike or a hybrid would seem to be enough to ride on a gravel road. #BikeTooter
@glightly a gravel bike is just a hybrid bike, is just a touring bike. The most recent merge of mountain bike technology with road bike design results in a best of both worlds: tubeless tires, hydraulic disc brakes, wife-range gearing without a front derailleur, wide rims and u-shaped tire profiles, but those are just technologies. The original mountain bike is not far from today's gravel bike. The basic form is a return to the original:
Went to the C*stco website to look for something, and saw that they are selling these carbon gravel bikes for $1500, choice of Shimano or SRAM drivetrain.
Is this a good deal? Or not? Serious question -- I don't know much about carbon or gravel.
