The workers union at Half Price Books is negotiating their first contract and the company only wants to give them 1% yearly raises, which won't cover the cost of living. The company has actually told the workers that it could afford to pay them more, but it won't/doesn't want to. You can support the Half Price Books workers union here: https://p2a.co/ua5jyxr#halfpricebooks#halfpricebooksworkersunited#unionstrong
The booksellers at #HalfPriceBooks achieved union recognition in Jan 2022, but their employer won't give them a contract. That's a scummy way for a "family business" to treat hardworking booksellers, who are seeking a living wage - and are being offered a real-terms pay cut instead. Booksellers can't live on love of literature - they need to pay rent, buy groceries and support their families. Half Price, give HPB Workers Unite the contract they deserve!
This is sad. I was a big customer of #HalfPriceBooks from the 80s and 90s until I moved away from their area of business. A wonderful place to shop for a book loving constantly broke kid.
One thing I've learned is that if you want happy customers you have to begin with a happy work force.
