wisegreyowl, to hiking

Taken in 2022, my mood photo (very Harry Potterish) was taken on the platform of the pretty-much-deserted Lealholm station on the North Yorks Moors line that terminates at Whitby. I had done a walk of nearly 10 miles and stopped at a bench seat to open a flask of coffee and munch on a cheese bap (bread roll or bread bun, depending on your origin). Perfect day for trekking.

My mood photo, from 2020 (pandemic year) when we paid a visit to South Africa in February to leave on the last day before SA's airspace was closed, arriving back the day before the UK's first lockdown started. 4 rolls of toilet rolls were all we had! Whew!

My mood photo of today is of a sketch I did earlier in the year. I like it... but it doesn't mean you have to 🫢.

My mood photo of today was taken in 2019 during our trip to South Africa, on our way to the Cape of Good Hope.

wisegreyowl, to history

My mood photo today was taken yesterday in Knaresborough (& yes, we walked up them) during our fairly regular constitutional winter walk - because it's mostly on path, so not muddy. They're called 'Gallons Steps' - not sure why, but for a long time, I thought they were Gallow Steps!

My mood photo of today was taken in 2012 at Bempton Cliffs near Flamborough Head - March when the migrant seabirds were arriving but before the puffins made their appearance. Chalk cliffs, a chilly & choppy North Sea, give this photo a hint of a crisp frigid day.

I dipped into my photos from 2003 and found one of a rose we had at the front door for many years, sadly deceased now. It had a lovely scent and was a prolific flower producer. Herewith, I pronounce you my mood photo for Saturday.

wisegreyowl, to nepal

A blast from the distant past for today's Mood Photo. It was taken in 2004 as the sun rose over the Annapurna mountain range on our last day of hiking during a charity trek to Nepal. I have wonderful memories of Nepal: its people particularly: gentle, tough, polite - a wonderful population let down by an awful political system.

Today's mood photo was taken today when we walked along the coast from La Pulete to the lighthouse at Corbier on the western coast of Jersey. The lighthouse is accessible only at low tide via a causeway, submerged at high tide.

My mood photo of today is from 2016 and our walk along the Great Glen Way - Caledonian Canal - in the Highlands of Scotland, a favourite of ours. This photo is of day 5, Invermoriston to Drumnadrochit. The going was 'strenuous' in parts but worth it for the view of Loch Ness. No midges either, a bonus.

Mood photo from today and our walk along Saltburn (Yorkshire) beach to Marske and back. Bracing for 2nd May but great for creating an appetite for Britain's gift to the world - fish & chips.
