Woman Remains Missing at Mt. Baldy After Going on Hike Alone on Sunday Afternoon
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 11:14 p.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station received a call regarding a missing hiker in the Mt. Baldy area of the San Gabriel Mountains, San Bernardino County. Lisei Huang set out on a hike alone at about 2 p.m., and had not been heard from since about 4 p.m.
From Instagram: "mtbaldyfire We recently stumbled upon this photo on social media of a hiker wearing Nike shoes while hiking to the top of Mt Baldy. Fortunately, this hiker did acknowledge how dangerous this was and that they would be getting better gear for the winter conditions. Please DO NOT attempt to hike local trail in the winter unless you have the appropriate gear and experience in winter hiking. This person was extremely lucky that they did not slip and potentially fall hundreds, if not thousands of feet...." #SAR#safety#MtBaldy#hiking#rescue

AAA's #Westways magazine recommending #MtBaldy#MountSanGorgonia and #SanJacintoPeak as hiking locations. They include a disclaimer, but nothing about needing serious training/preparation for the elevation, the difficulty of all 3 of these hikes (Vivian Creek?!?!?!). #hiking
