I’ve been looking for an ngrok alternative for a while now that’s (a) affordable (b) easy to use and (c) works with Kitten¹. Today, after testing a bunch of them again and getting fed up, I found LocalXpose that checks all the boxes.

I signed Small Technology Foundation up as an affiliate so if you use this link to check it out, we’ll get 40% of your $6/mo pro account fee should you subscribe:

Discovered Tunnel today, and it didn’t disappoint. I was able to set it up locally, and I’ve used it to temporarily expose a little webhook project to the net. The docs were straightforward, it asked me to auth once via browser, the rest happened in the terminal.

Yes, I know exists but I didn't feel like signing up for yet another service.

Free ngrok plan / alternatives to ngrok

Can I use my own domain (example.com) that I own with a FREE ngrok account?
found this https://ngrok.com/docs/guides/how-to-set-up-a-custom-domain/
but it seems to be for premium accounts.

If not, do you know of any free alternatives that I can use to skip doing port forwarding, and also use my own domain?

boosts are appreciated, comments much more.
thanks!

Not sure how I feel about this: I’m a paying user for the only reason that I like having a static domain. ngrok just announced “static domains for our free users.” In theory I no longer need to pay… but paying helps them.

New post: Using a CloudFlare Tunnel to share a local development site over the internet

I've been using ngrok for this purpose until now, but wanted to play around with CloudFlare Tunnels, and I really like that setup. It seems a lot faster than ngrok too, and I can use my own domain name!
