When we first came to New York, we'd play four times a day. I only had one guitar, so I'd have to break it and fix it four times a day: Pete Townshend talks guitar smashing, and what he had to do to keep his gear functioning
John Hiatt once sang, Oh, it breaks my heart to see those stars smashing a perfectly good guitar, but you'll never hear...

Ted Tocks Covers - Year 6 - Day 118

5:15

On this day 50 years ago The Who released ‘Quadrophenia’, a musical masterpiece written by Pete Townshend.

“Magically bored
On a quiet street corner
Free frustration
In our minds and our toes
Quiet storm water
M-m-my generation
Uppers and downers
Either way blood flows”

Who Are You

This iconic album by The Who was released 45 years ago today.

“I woke up in a Soho doorway
A policeman knew my name
He said, "You can go sleep at home tonight
If you can get up and walk away."

I staggered back to the underground
And the breeze blew back my hair
I remember throwin' punches around
And preachin' from my chair”

🎧 's "Rough Boys" was a coming out as not-straight song/clip by Townshend in 1980. He confirmed that when asked, but took it back later. 🤷‍♂️

I don't blame him. The world was/is homophobic by default.

The is no official release of this film by online.

I wish Pete Townshend would stop, just for 5 bloody minutes, releasing new, quality editions of his back catalogue. I can’t afford this!!!!

revivalrecords,

Well I ordered them anyway. I’ve managed to bag all of the half speed Abbey Road remasters so far so couldn’t leave these two classics out. Rough Mix particularly is one of my favourite albums.

A good candidate for the next blog post I fancy….
