TIL that there is an Afro-Caribbean version of The Who’s Tommy, called Hommy. I’ve never actually listened to Tommy but am going to live dangerously and listen to Hommy first.

The first song you remember hearing live. (It wasn't a JP idol.)

High School in the 70s. The first live show I went to was "The Who" I have no idea what the opener was but this was one of the songs I am sure they played and one I went to hear.

When we first came to New York, we'd play four times a day. I only had one guitar, so I'd have to break it and fix it four times a day: Pete Townshend talks guitar smashing, and what he had to do to keep his gear functioning
John Hiatt once sang, Oh, it breaks my heart to see those stars smashing a perfectly good guitar, but you'll never hear...

Today (March 1) in 1944, someone who would become one of the greatest damn singers of ALL TIME -- Roger Daltrey of The Who -- was born.

That of course means you gotta blast The Who LOUD today.

These are my 11 top favorite Who songs to get you started: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUo1OYrFf_NrTvhl3hPtdYlBZfxeZa3cl&si=oNKqqXMUgWqKQNp_

My dad was a huge audiophile who was very into Quadraphonic LPs. He was a classical music buff who didn't ordinarily buy much of anything else, but he did deign to purchase this all-star orchestral version of Tommy. It's a beautifully packaged little thing.

Tonight's cooking tunes courtesy of The Who - The Who By Numbers, released 1975.

The older I get the more The Who appeal to me, they didn't back in my day, strange.
