Dr. Ana Alonso-Serrano is a long-term vistor at @mpi_grav Potsdam. She works on the quantum behaviour of spacetime close to the classical singularities and phenomenology of quantum gravity.

[dying to know what the consensus ended up being on this radical theory (pub 23 Jul 2018). guess I'l do some hunting; tips appreciated]
trio of physicists is making waves with a new theory about —they suggest they might have negative mass, and because of that, have negative gravity. Angelo Esposito, Rafael Krichevsky and Alberto Nicolis have written a paper to support their theory, including the math, and uploaded it to the xrXiv preprint server.

I really struggled to understand this article, coz shockingly not even once did anyone mention socks. Seems like a shocking oversight 😲

Ethan Siegel just wrote an excellent blog about our new paper on Hawking radiation, giving a detailed explanation, why the event horizon is not necessary (and as usual he actually understands and explains some of these things better than I do!). Have a look - it saves me a long thread …

Fascinating how scientists think… the ‘thought problems’ they sometimes employ to develop benchmarks for new theories. Like this new paper in the and space: “Black holes resolve paradoxes by destroying quantum states” https://www.sciencenews.org/article/black-hole-paradoxes-quantum-states
