You may have seen this article going around social media today. What the article does not make clear, particularly in the headline and the lede, is that “WordPress” isn’t selling any user data — that is being done by Automattic, the company that owns Tumblr and wordpress dot com. If your site runs WordPress and is not hosted on wordpress dot com servers, they don’t have your data.
