#WordPress example: If you need to do something like fetching 20 different currency rates from a 3rd party for a plugin that needs to convert them, but only realistically need to convert between two of those, just use a wp_options key like '1984_woo_dk_currency_rate_' . strtolower( $currency ) for each currency's base rate instead of mucking about with using a serialised array of every single currency and then iterating through that.

It's 20 years ago today that I registered my first account on the wordpress.org forums. I had been preparing to move my blog to #WordPress 1.2 and needed some help.
It's been quite a ride. Such a wonderful, friendly and helpful community.
Je suis perdu avec #Wordpress et #DIVI (ne me jugez pas, ou alors pas trop fort). Je ne trouve aucun moyen d'afficher le libellé de la catégorie d'un article dans l'article proprement dit.
Bêtement, j'imaginais pouvoir faire ça dans un template dédié aux articles dans le "thème builder" mais je dois mal m'y prendre.
(ni virer Wordpress ni virer Divi ne sont des options dans le cas présent, même si l'envie ne manque pas)
Wie lustig. Bereits seit dem 20.04.2016 werden alle meine Beiträge aus dem #Fediverse zusätzlich auf einem #WordPress gespiegelt. Den ursprünglichen #Friendica Server gibt es heute nicht mehr. Der war irgendwann zu klein und ist auf eine größere Maschine umgezogen.
Die Idee dazu war ganz einfach: Sollte etwas ganz, ganz schreckliches mit dem Server passieren, dann habe ich immer noch eine 1:1 Kopie meiner öffentlichen Beiträge, die ich hier erstellt habe 😎
Randnotiz: Das Blog ist damit älter als #Mastodon 🤪.

Everything #tech has an overhyped cycle (usually in the beginning of its introduction to a critical mass but not always).
If you’re reading this on Mastodon then you’ll likely rightly think about #AI#Apple etc.
But also #Mastodon#ActivityPub#WordPress etc also had theirs. Maybe you weren’t around for them. And these (and more) have settled into reasonable realistic expectations. It’s a pattern.
Point? Maybe none. But pointing out overhype maybe is something some don’t bother with.
