On the occasion of , it's worth a mention that , has been instrumental in giving birth to two most influential browser engines - and . And browsers such as and .
A building in has a great history: an incubator of the & engines. Presto had a massive influence on web standards & KHTML went on to form the basis of and , on which most web browsers are now based, including Vivaldi.

Many developers working on the Vivaldi browser were also involved in creating the engine. Vivaldi founder @jon started working with the Web in 1992.

The old Opera/Trolltech building is Waldemar Thranes gate 98 and it is viewable from @Vivaldi's current headquarters. So near in fact, I'll step out of the office and take a picture for you all!

As stated [⬆️] the Presto and KHTML web engines are associated with (via Opera and Trolltech respectively). Presto had a big influence on web standards (CSS, HTML Video, etc.). KHTML was the foundation of Webkit/Blink, on which Safari and Chromium browsers are now based.
