I have just discovered that the Baltimore Rock Opera Society exists, its current show is A Computer That Loves: And Why Not To Build One, "a original universe-spanning sci-fi rock opera epic with a big (and heavy) heart."
The first modern performance of Claudio Monteverdi's opera Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria occurred in Paris.
Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria is an opera consisting of a prologue and five acts (later revised to three), set by Monteverdi to a libretto by Giacomo Badoaro. The opera was first performed at the Teatro Santi Giovanni e Paolo in Venice during the 1639–1640 carnival season. The story is taken from the second half of Homer's Odyssey.
Disturbing, noticed across theatre and live music too. I wonder if the pandemic shifted many people's entertainment habits to online stuff they can do from home.

In the Funen countryside in Denmark, you may encounter the most adventurous creatures!
Many months of intense work were showcased yesterday to a fairly large crowd of alert and focused children when Ballhaus' and Via Artis Konsort's outdoor opera for children 'Nature Opera' had its premiere.
I have been building browsers for 30 years now. First Opera and now Vivaldi. My estimate is that more than 1 billion have used one of my browsers or both. Have you?
This month it is 30 years since I started working on browsers. April 1994 is when Geir and I started working on the Opera browser. We founded the company a year later.
Initially I made the UI, while Geir did a lot of the core.
Since that time I have dedicated myself to making the Web live up to its potential. First at Opera and now at Vivaldi.
If you ever used Opera and you have not tried Vivaldi, I invite you to give us a try!
If you never used Opera or Vivaldi, you are invited as well!
NATURE OPERA
In Ballhaus' opera for children and their families, several animals make an appearance, all helping to keep nature's cycle going.
Here, the Lark has been spotted during a rehearsal :)
Plain Reading is up with another episode! Join us for a great conversation with #religion and #music scholar Dirk von der Horst. We're talking #time, committed communities, and more—plus, lots of links in the notes to oh-so-many versions of #poem and space #opera Aniara!
Fuck me, Salome is perfect, though. I always sell it as the perfect introduction to #opera ahead of the usual Tosca and Carmen clichés. Modern, even now, challenging, doesn't outstay its welcome. Fucking magnificent music. Probably my favourite of all. Try it. 💿 #ClassicalMusic
It's a little-known part of #NewOrleans' musical history. Before #jazz came to dominate the landscape, it was known as a city of #opera. Now, a project called #OperaCreole is working to restore the city's #ClassicalMpusic heritage and give the long lost works of composers of color their American debuts.
But Tatiana Troyanos's Santuzza in the 1978 MET staging is very much worth a watch anyway ❤
She is completely luminous in this production 😯
(insofar as one can be luminous as the 'abandoned' woman in a verismo opera staged by Zeffirelli!)
