From the New York Times bestselling author of Internment comes a timely and gripping social-suspense novel about book banning, activism, and standing up for what you believe.

The book "Malleus Maleficarum" was a bestseller during the 15th-17th centuries. It provided guidance to hunters, resulting in the execution of thousands of people, mostly women.

Yes, we do have a banned books collection, please see below:

Project Gutenberg
Its banned books collection is based on author and book collector Anne Haight’s “Banned Books: Informal Notes on Some Books Banned for Various Reasons at Various Times and in Various Places.” While Haight’s book was published in 1978, some of the included titles are still being challenged in the U.S. today.

Last year, the American Library Association documented the highest number of attempted book bans since it began compiling data on library censorship more than two decades ago.

These digital libraries help Texans access banned books — for free.

Celebrating Banned Books Week with my Little Free Library stocked. Last year, Dearborn Public Schools banned This Book is Gay by Juno Dawson, so this is my way of fighting back against ignorant book bans. Read a banned book this week!

If you listen to Serious Inquiries Only (https://seriouspod.com/) you may be aware that a recurring guest has been creating wish lists for banned books and distributing them via Little Free Libraries! I'm one of the distributors, so if you have a few extra bucks feel free to buy one if the books off this list and I'll make sure kids in Cobb County, GA have the opportunity to read it! Sorry it's on Amazon. If you don't want to use Amazon DM me. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/DIG05DVTG4S5

More distributions. This one went in a Little Free Library that can be found here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/10582267287

Today's distribution is "The Little Rock Nine: A Primary Source Exploration of the Battle for School Integration" by Brian Michael Krumm. It went in a Little Free Library that can be seen here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/9798785533

I think that's all the kids books; tomorrow I'll start on the novels.

Another distro earlier today:
"Sex is a funny word: a book about bodies, feelings, and You" by Cory Silverberg. This looks like it would be an excellent resource for parents trying to have "the talk" with their children. See the Little Free Library it went into here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/9798785535

Two drop offs this morning since you're sending them quicker than I can distribute them! The first was a copy of "What Are My Rights? Q&A About Teens and the Law" by Tom Jacobs as well as another copy of "The Little Rock Nine". Those went here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/10773247490

The second is another copy of "What Are My Rights", and "Maus" by Art Spiegelman that went in another library just up the street that wasn't on Open Street Map! It has now been added: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/11212279706

After posting that last one I got a few more packages and this distro contains the first book that I know is banned in Cobb County Schools! "Flamer" by Mike Curato. Flamer is the story of a 14 year old boy at scout camp discovering that he is attracted to other boys and being worried about what his friends and family will think. According to some watchdog organizations this is the most banned book of 2022.

It went to the Little Free Library in Brinkley Park: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/10685775820

Okay, last distro today (it's my day off, so I won't normally post this many in one day). This one included "Gender Queer" by Maia Kobabe and another copy of Maus (you all sent a lot of those!).

This is one of the more intricate Little Free Libraries in the area! It can be found by Durham Park here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/10582343112

In side the little free library are copies of Gender Queer and Maus.

Another distro! This one featured "All Boys Aren't Blue" by George M. Johnson and another copy of "Gender Queer".

They went in the Little Free Library in Lake Court Park that can be seen here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/10112013310

Today's distro is to the Little Free Library in North Cooper Lake Park. It includes "Beyond Magenta" by Susan Kuklin and the last copy I got of "Maus".

The location can be seen here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/10968228141

On my way to I biked by a Little Free Library I didn't know about before! I added it to Open Street Map and did another distro. This one included "The 1619 Project: Born on the Water" by Nikole Hannah-Jones, Renée Watson, Nikkolas Smith and another copy of "The Little Rock Nine".

It was placed here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/11228024683

Right around the corner from the last one is a nice pocket park, GB Williams Park, with another previously unmapped Little Free Library so it also got a distro! This got "Let's Talk About It" and "Know Your Rights".

See it here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/11229964134

Another range distro to a Little Free Library I didn't know about until today! This one got another copy of "What Are My Rights?" and "Let's Talk About It".

I haven't had much time for distros this weekend, but I just got three copies of "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" by Jesse Andrews courtesy of @DecaturNature! This is one of the books that is known to be banned in Cobb County, so I'm glad to have it. I'll get those out ASAP (probably next weekend).

sam,
@sam@social.coop avatar

Finally got out for another distro today and it turned out to be the perfect day for it! I had originally planned to go to and hit up a few Little Free Libraries I'd pass along the way. The first one got a copy of "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" by Jesse Andrews, as well as a copy of "The Poet X" by Elizabeth Acevedo. This one can be seen here:

I had made a list of Little Free Libraries for distros, but stumbled upon this one that I wasn't aware of right on the Mountain to River Trail! It got another copy of "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" as well as " The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison.

It can be found next to the pie shop that maintains it here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/11262705282

Finally, the last distro for today (probably) went in a Little Free Library right up the street that was one of the most decorated ones I've seen. It even had a light bulb in it! It got copies of "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" and "Maus". All of today's books also have "Read Banned Books" bookmarks in them.

This one can be found here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/11262710585
