The 11.6km mountain biking and walking Pike29 Memorial Track will open on February 17. It will connect the Paparoa Track Great Walk to the Pike River Valley.

The track is the result of a partnership between DOC, Ngāti Waewae and families of the 29 men who died in the Pike River mine disaster in November 2010.

Out in the middle of nowhere in the mountains on a bushwalk at 8:30 in the morning on a Sunday. Have literally not seen a single human in hours. Just me, the lorikeets and a wallaby. Really, really need to pee, so find a nice chunky gum tree... And there they are...An entire family of Greater Bronzed Sydneysiders. Homo Investmentpropertyensis.

Nice to see the research. I just know it feels good to me. 🌳🏕️🌳⛰️🌳🏝️🌳.

ON THE TRAIL…
A sea kayak glides along the coast at the far southern end of South Bruny Island. Adamsons Peak on the far south coast, still with snow around the summit, peeks over the hills on the horizon.

My 19yo daughter and I don't have much in the way of a social life so I have been looking at "Meetup" in hopes of finding some free/cheap activities where we might meet some new people. Joined a hiking group. Today we went on a short hike with a group of about 10 people at Lesmurdie Falls, was a pleasant experience 🙂 looking forward to future excursions!

For the longest time I've wanted to do this walk to the Piper Comanche crash site, near Mount Glorious

Today I took it off my bucket list, though it was probably better suited to a younger and 30kg lighter version of me 😀

There's not much left of the wreck, but I'm still glad we did it. Was a beaut day for a walk in the rainforest

Bushwalk on weekend around Werribee gorge circuit.
This is a hidden gem 1hr from Melbourne.
Try and get it in once a year.
