@ralfhersel second this one: #chezmoi. takes some time to learn / stabilize a new habit, then pure joy to use and gets out of the way otherwise. @matthegap
I personally use #NixOS. The declarative nature of it is so nice.
It enables me to share common configuration between different computers while still allowing host specific differences without relying on hacky solutions like #chezmoi.
Not knocking chezmoi, it's great and I used it for years, I just prefer the home-manager module for NixOS.
@nat i used to symlink (unless i forgot to, which i did a lol, lol) then switched to #chezmoi, still getting used to it but overall it's definitely an improvement:

@danie10 i have a text file in a simple asciidoc format that can be exported (to html, pdf, etc.) or grep'ped (it's pointed to by $HELP), and it's on owncloud so available on most of my machines…
…but i see the beauty of #cheat and must give it a try some day: should go beautifully together with #chezmoi!
